GUR Info

We have compiled a list of volunteers who have offered their time and support for greyhound transports around the country. If you are in need of GUR assistance please check through this list and contact members in the area of the transport.

We will continue to add to the list as people offer their services for GURs. If you wish to volunteer and be placed on the GUR list, or have updates to your existing information, please post in this thread. We will do our best to update the list as quickly as possible with new information. Original GUR thread

Thank you all very much for your participation. The generosity shown by GUR drivers and supporters is 1st rate and there are not enough words to describe the important role they play in moving hounds to safety and new homes.

Willing to Transport List

Connecticut:

LadyChester– Hartford area (near I84 & I91)
Weekends & occasional weekday (May-Aug – any day)
6-8 hrs round trip, Up to 4 hounds, crate & muzzle available
Overnight & pit stop amenities available (no $$)

Indiana:

Vinnie and Rex's mom – NE Indiana (1 hour from I 69 - Fort Wayne, 2 hours from Indianapolis)
Available on a limited basis
Weekdays during school year, probably not
Weekends – within a 4-5 hour round trip and plenty of notice
Frequent flier to Louisville, so could do a straight through for a single hound (mine make this trip with me)
1-2 hounds without co-pilot, have hauled up to 4 with co-pilot
possible overnight with 1 catsafe hound, pit stop amenities available
crate & muzzles available, fenced yard (no $$)


Foster Flunker - I 65, 465 and 70 areas (to points near KY OH IL MI)
Weekends but possible weekday with plenty of notice
Possible overnight with notice (no $$)


Maryland:

Dmswartzfager – Between Washington DC and Baltimore (near I95 & I70)
Weekends & any day during the summer – 6 hours round trip
Up to 4 hounds, overnight & pit stop amenities available
muzzle available (no $$)

Massachusetts:

ShannonQ – Eastern Mass near Boston (near Rts 495, 3,95, 93, 90 and Mass Pike)
Weekends (short notice) & weekday (advance notice)
3-4 hr or 6-8 hr round trip
Up to 3 hounds, crate & muzzle available
Overnight and pit stop amenities available (no $$)


Mississippi:

Keegsmom – Vicksburg, MS (50 miles west of Jackson) (near I20, MS River)
Can transport depending on work schedule (please ask)
Up to 300 miles in any direction depending on schedule (anywhere
in MS & LA, to Memphis, TN and Alabama coast. No overnight trips)
Up to 4 hounds uncrated, 1 crate& muzzle available
Overnight possible for small animal safe and crate trained hound.
Pit stops amenities available ($$ possible depending on # of trips)

New Hampshire:

Houndmom – Concord area (I93 corridor, near Rt 89 to Vermont)
Weekends – within a 6 hour round trip
1-2 hounds, no overnight, pit stop amenities available
crates & muzzles available, fenced yard (no $$)

North Carolina:

houndmama - Ashville area and the following:
to Hickory, NC via I-40E, Johnson City, TN via I-26W
Newport, TN via I-40W, Greenville, SC via I-26E
Weekends only, multiple hounds (no $$)

Oklahoma:

krtrrsq - Tulsa area (near I44)
Flexible schedule with prior notice, 6 hour round trip
up to 10 hounds uncrated, 2-3 crated
Crate possible, muzzle available
Overnight available, pit stop possible
No $$ unless did numerous transports



Pennsylvania:

PhillyPups – Philadelphia area (near PA Turnpike and I95)
Weekends – 8 hour round trip. Up to 6 hounds w/co-pilot
Possible overnight, amenities on weekends (no $$)

Tennessee:

Ali West – Rockwood, near Knoxville (near I40)
Weekends (short notice), week days (2-3 day notice)
10-12 hour round trip
1-2 hounds, no overnights, pit stop amenities available (no $$)

5blackgreys – 25 miles east of Memphis. (near I40)
Weekends and weekdays (with advance notice) – 10 hrs round trip
Up to 5 hounds, crate & muzzle available
Overnight and Pit stop available (no $$)

Texas:

Boomermom - Dallas with points from Carrollton to far northern TX
(I 35 & 635 area), 10 hour round trip
Weekends (weekday evenings - short trips)
1 hound, crate & muzzle available
Overnight and pit stop available (no $$)


Virginia:

vagreys - Richmond area (near I64 & I95)
weekdays – within 5 hour round trip, weekends – within a 10 round trip
1-2 hounds, overnights on weekend, pit stop amenities available

Wisconsin:
